How to Unblock ScreenshotOne in Your Hosting Provider
If your hosting provider or server firewall blocks ScreenshotOne (e.g., you get 403 or 429 in host_returned_error), allow your screenshot requests by a secret User-Agent or header.
Don’t allow our IPs. They change often, and your screenshots will break again.
1. Choose a secret value
Section titled “1. Choose a secret value”Use something long and random, for example:
MyCompanyScreenshotBot/9f3aXK29_secret2. Send it from ScreenshotOne
Section titled “2. Send it from ScreenshotOne”Set it with the user_agent option:
https://api.screenshotone.com/take?access_key=<your access key>&url=https://example.com&user_agent=MyCompanyScreenshotBot/9f3aXK29_secretOr as a header with the headers option:
https://api.screenshotone.com/take?access_key=<your access key>&url=https://example.com&headers=X-Screenshot-Secret:9f3aXK29_secretTo check what your website receives, screenshot https://httpbin.org/headers with the same options.
3. Ask your hosting provider to allow it
Section titled “3. Ask your hosting provider to allow it”Send your hosting support a message like:
Please, allow requests to example.com with the User-Agent"MyCompanyScreenshotBot/9f3aXK29_secret". They come from a screenshotservice with changing IPs, so allowing by IP is not possible. If you manage the firewall yourself, add an allow rule for the same User-Agent or header.
If your website is behind Cloudflare, follow the Cloudflare guide.
Keep it secret
Section titled “Keep it secret”Anyone who knows the value can bypass your protection. Don’t publish it, and change it from time to time.
