How to take website screenshots in ASCN.AI with ScreenshotOne

ASCN.AI is a platform for building and running AI agents for business tasks. With ScreenshotOne, your agents can capture websites as images or PDFs for monitoring, research, and reports.

Sign up for ScreenshotOne and copy your API key from the access page.

  1. Open Settings → Secrets and keys.
  2. Click + Add secret.
  3. Enter SCREENSHOTONE_ACCESS_KEY as the name and your API key as the value.
  4. Save the secret.

The agent can then read the key as an environment variable. See ASCN.AI’s secrets guide for details.

Open a chat with your agent and send this prompt:

Create a skill called "website-screenshot". When I ask for a screenshot of a
website, send a GET request to https://api.screenshotone.com/take with these
URL-encoded query parameters:
- url: the website URL
- access_key: the value of the SCREENSHOTONE_ACCESS_KEY environment variable
- format: png
- full_page: true when I ask for the full page
- block_cookie_banners: true
- block_ads: true
The response body is the image. Save it to a file and show it to me. If the
response is an error, show me the error message. Never print the access key.

The skill appears in Brain → Skills → My skills, where you can review and edit it. See ASCN.AI’s skills guide for details.

Ask your agent:

Take a full-page screenshot of https://example.com

Check that the agent returns the image. You can then use the skill in a scheduled task:

Every Monday at 9:00, take full-page screenshots of https://example.com and
https://example.com/pricing, compare them with last week's screenshots, and
send me a summary of what changed.

See the API reference for viewport sizes, PDF output, waiting for page content, and other options you can add to the skill.

ASCN.AI also lets you add a custom MCP server in Brain → Integrations. ScreenshotOne’s hosted MCP server is at https://mcp.screenshotone.com. It uses Streamable HTTP and OAuth, and ASCN.AI’s documentation doesn’t list which transports and authentication methods custom servers support, so use the API key setup above if the connection fails.

Reach out to us at support@screenshotone.com if you have any questions or need help with the integration.
