A public library website helps visitors find opening hours, browse the catalog, and discover upcoming events. Screenshots let you review how clearly the design presents those services.
Use ScreenshotOne to capture pages for a design review, compare websites at consistent sizes, or add visual evidence to an audit report. Your team can review the images directly or send them to a vision model for an initial assessment.
What screenshots add to a website audit
Markdown is useful for reading and processing a page’s text. It does not preserve the rendered layout, typography, spacing, colors, or image placement. A screenshot lets a reviewer examine those details together.
For a public library website, a visual review might consider:
- Whether the photography and colors make the library feel welcoming.
- Whether opening hours, event listings, and body text are easy to read at the captured size.
- Whether the catalog search and event registration links are visually prominent.
- Whether the mobile layout has cramped text, overlapping elements, or awkward image crops.
Keep text extraction alongside screenshots when you need both the content and its presentation. A static image can show how an event registration button looks; checking whether it works requires interacting with the site.
Capture comparable views
Start with the same viewport dimensions for each site. Capture the first screen to compare first impressions, then take a full-page screenshot to review the rest of the layout. Add a separate narrow viewport capture to inspect the responsive design.
For example, this request captures a desktop viewport:
curl --get 'https://api.screenshotone.com/take' \ --data-urlencode "access_key=$SCREENSHOTONE_ACCESS_KEY" \ --data-urlencode 'url=https://example.com' \ --data-urlencode 'viewport_width=1440' \ --data-urlencode 'viewport_height=1000' \ --data-urlencode 'format=png' \ --output website-desktop.pngSet full_page=true for the full layout. For a narrow viewport, try viewport_width=390 and viewport_height=844; use the device options when you also need mobile browser emulation.
Record the source URL, capture time, viewport, and capture options with each image. Keep cookie banners visible when reviewing the initial visitor experience. If you want to inspect the design behind them, take a separate capture using cookie-banner blocking and label that view accordingly.
Turn captures into review notes
Use a consistent checklist for hierarchy, typography, imagery, spacing, and responsive layout. Attach each observation to its screenshot so a designer or client can see the issue in context.
If you use AI vision to analyze the screenshots, ask for observations tied to visible elements and have a person review the suggestions. An image alone does not establish conversion performance, accessibility compliance, or whether the site’s interactions work.
