Stripe's home page pairs a tight core palette with a bright ribbon gradient:

  • Navy #061B31 for headlines and navigation
  • Blurple #533AFD for buttons and accents
  • Slate #64748D for supporting headline text
  • Ribbon #B4BDFE #FE9A15 #FE5B66 #FE85E5 #8D60F0 in the hero
:root { --stripe-navy: #061B31; --stripe-blurple: #533AFD; --stripe-slate: #64748D; --stripe-ribbon: linear-gradient( 120deg, #B4BDFE, #FE9A15, #FE5B66, #FE85E5, #8D60F0 );}

The ribbon stops are sampled from the screenshot, so treat them as close approximations.

A practical agent loop

Turn a URL into visual evidence

The agent chooses what to capture. ScreenshotOne handles the browser work. The agent can then inspect the result with a vision model or include it in its output.

  1. 1

    Describe the target

Provide a URL and the state the agent needs to observe, such as a full page or a specific viewport.

  2. 2

    Render in managed Chromium

ScreenshotOne loads the page, applies capture options, and returns the final screenshot.

  3. 3

    Inspect, decide, and report

The agent uses the image as visual context or preserves it as evidence for the completed task.

Example agent task
1

Capture a full-page screenshot of screenshotone.com/pricing. Block ads and cookie banners, return a cached URL, and verify that the pricing table is visible.

ScreenshotOne is so simple to use I didn't even realized my agents used it to take screenshots. I followed the journey of ScreenshotOne since the beginning, and it's among the few products I can put 100% of my trust in.

Agent integrations

The screenshot API for AI agents

Start with a hosted tool, install a reusable skill, or make screenshot capture part of your application code.

Hosted MCP server

Connect a compatible agent through OAuth and render screenshots without running a local server or copying an API key into the client.

Connect with MCP

Agent Skills

Install a reusable screenshot workflow for Codex and other agents that support skills.

API and SDKs

Call ScreenshotOne directly when screenshots are a deterministic step inside your own agent product or workflow.

Workflows

Give agents context they can use

Screenshots show how a page looks, and Markdown shows what it says. Together they let your agent check, compare, and report on any page.

Verify the live page

Let an agent capture the rendered result after a release and include visual proof with its QA summary.

Research with visual context

Combine a screenshot with clean Markdown when an agent needs to understand both how a page looks and what it says.

Monitor visible changes

Use ScreenshotOne inside a scheduled agent or automation workflow to capture the same page over time.

Attach evidence to results

Return temporary image URLs and full-page slices an agent can inspect or preserve with a report.

Track competitor pricing

Have an agent read competitor pricing pages as Markdown and keep a screenshot of each plan table it compares.

Review landing pages

Give an agent the rendered page and its copy so it can critique the layout, messaging, and calls to action.

We thought making a screenshot tool for our AI agents would be simple. But we faced countless unexpected problems.

So, we ditched the idea and chose ScreenshotOne API instead. It saved us lots of time and it just works!

Reliable browser execution

Control the page state before an agent sees it

Real pages load asynchronously, show overlays, and change across devices. Capture controls make the visual input cleaner and more predictable.

Wait for the right page state

Wait for browser events, a CSS selector, or an explicit delay before the screenshot is captured.

Remove visual noise

Block ads and cookie banners or hide selected elements before an image reaches the agent.

Capture the required context

Choose a viewport, emulate a device, capture the full page, or isolate one element with a selector.

Return machine-friendly results

Return the image directly or use JSON and caching when an agent needs a reusable screenshot URL.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about the ScreenshotOne MCP and giving your agents web page screenshots and text.

What is the ScreenshotOne MCP server?
A hosted Model Context Protocol server at https://mcp.screenshotone.com that connects your ScreenshotOne account to any MCP-aware AI client. Your agent can render website screenshots, split long pages into full-page slices, and extract clean page content as Markdown.
Which clients are supported?
The setup guides cover Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, Grok Bot, Muse, Hermes Agent, and OpenClaw. The hosted server requires remote Streamable HTTP MCP and OAuth support.
Do I need to run anything locally or paste an API key?
No. The server is hosted at https://mcp.screenshotone.com, and you connect with OAuth in the browser. If you prefer a local setup, an open-source command-line server is also available on GitHub.
MCP vs the API: which should I use?
Use MCP when you work through an AI client like Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT and want to ask for screenshots in natural language. Use the API when you build your own server integration or automation and need full control over requests, options, and responses.
Do MCP tool calls use my credits?
MCP uses the same credit rules as the ScreenshotOne API. Calls that consume API credits consume the same amount through MCP.
How are my data and credentials handled?
Your client sends requests and an OAuth token to ScreenshotOne's MCP server. ScreenshotOne validates the token and uses its API and infrastructure providers to render the requested page, then returns screenshot URLs or Markdown to your client. Your ScreenshotOne API key stays server-side. You can revoke the connection at any time from the MCP connections page in the dashboard.
Why should an AI agent use a screenshot instead of extracted text?
Extracted text explains what a page says. A screenshot preserves the rendered layout and visible state, including overlays, missing elements, and visual changes. Agent workflows can use both when they need semantic and visual context.
How can an AI agent connect to ScreenshotOne?
A compatible agent can connect through the hosted MCP server, use a ScreenshotOne Agent Skill, or call the screenshot API directly from an application or tool.
Can ScreenshotOne capture JavaScript-heavy pages?
Yes. ScreenshotOne renders pages in Chromium and supports browser events, selector waits, and delays so an agent can capture the intended page state.
Can an agent receive a URL instead of a large image response?
Yes. For workflows that need a reusable URL, request a JSON response with caching enabled. The response can include a cache URL for the rendered screenshot.
